The score of Saturday's game, by the way, was not indicative of how the game was played. Our team played tough and held the Dux to a 16-6 battle for most of the game. It is one of the toughest things in high school sports to get so close and fall short, so it is appropriate for them to be disappointed at first. However, I didn't hear any disappointment from the crowd or the community and I hope that our players and coaches will realize the impact of their achievement after they've had a few days to recover.
This season has been one of the best in school history, one game away from playing for a State Championship and a top four finish in the state. The achievements of the fall season were no accident. They were the result of hard work: hours in the weight room, film sessions, meetings, drills, practice, and more. So, be disappointed for a couple of days then recognize all that you did for your school community - the rest of us certainly do. Thanks for a great season!
Now let's do it again this winter!
